Multicyclone filters are used for the dynamic cleaning of dust-laden waste gases such as flue gases, as well as process air and gases.

Their dust collection efficiency is higher than conventional systems, and the particle sizes they can capture are much finer and smaller. For this reason, they are among the most widely used chimney and filtration systems.

What Is a Multicyclone Filter?

Multicyclone filters are multi-cyclone systems that separate dust and particles in gas by using centrifugal force. While a single cyclone unit provides filtration at limited flow rates, multicyclone filter systems consisting of multiple cyclones can operate at higher flow rates with higher efficiency. For this reason, they are widely used especially in industrial boiler systems (such as steam boilers, hot water boilers, and heating boilers) for emission control and particle separation.

Working Principle

  • Gas and particle inlet: Hot gas leaving the boiler or combustion system enters the multicyclone filter.
  • Cyclonic motion: As the gas rotates within the cyclone structure, particles are thrown toward the cyclone body walls by centrifugal force.
  • Particle settling: Particles hitting the cyclone walls move toward the lower section of the cyclone cone and are collected there.
  • Clean gas outlet: Gas separated from particles is discharged from the upper cyclone outlet to the exhaust or stack system.
  • Maintenance and cleaning: Settled particles are collected in the hopper at the bottom of the system and removed manually or automatically.
By positioning multiple cyclone units in parallel, higher gas processing volumes and more effective particle separation are achieved. In addition, the design and sizing of each cyclone unit are optimized according to the target flow rate and particle load.
